Shawna knows that life isn’t always all rainbows and sunshine, but it isn’t always clouds and nightmares either. She is a domestic abuse survivor—she has suffered abuse in some way or form for most of her life. And she suffers from severe chronic depression. Her self-esteem has taken a major hit, and some days she will tell you she's not even sure if she has any…but she uses what little bit she has to advocate for others. She tells her story to help others see they aren’t alone. By staying silent, abusers win. We cannot stay silent. With that in mind, she does what she can to spread as much kindness and encouragement as possible.
She started babysitting at an early age, around 9 1/2 years old and has always enjoyed reading to children and writing little stories and poems. She wrote her children's book 'Not Bedtime, Almost' for her oldest daughter, Rachel, when she was around 2. When not writing, she works full-time in customer service.
It has been her dream to become a published author, and now she is looking forward to sharing her work with you. In her spare time, Shawna has just published her memoir on Amazon and is working on a novel for mom and dad to read and hopes to one day finish it and share that with you, too.
